Free Veterans’ Day Patriotic Pops Concert – November 11th 4 pm Lebanon High School
The Willamette Valley Concert Band will hold its annual Veterans’ Day patriotic pops concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Lebanon High School auditorium, 1700 S. 5th St. The program will last about 75 minutes.
The concert is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. The money will be used to defray costs of presenting the program, and a portion will go to the Lebanon High School music program. The band will present a wide selection of music marking the Linn County Veterans’ Day Celebration.
Members of the Lebanon High Junior ROTC unit will present the colors for the playing of the Star Spangled Banner at the opening of the concert. The Lebanon High School Choir, directed by Kevin Wong, will sing Armed Forces Salute, featuring the official songs of the U.S. Armed Forces, while members of the Lebanon American Legion present the flags of the six branches. The choir will also sing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, made famous by the Andrews Sisters during World War II, and Misty, written by pianist Erroll Garner in 1954.
