About Us

The Willamette Valley Concert Band is a community ensemble formed in the spring of 1970 by a group of Albany musicians. Their first performance was for the Albany Spring Music Festival. The group's purpose was to further the cultural environment of the community; to provide entertainment for the general public at concerts and other performances; and to offer the members an opportunity for personal self-expression through the medium of music. This purpose is still maintained thirty-six years later.

The membership includes about fifty-five area musicians ranging from teenagers to seniors with diverse occupations. About nine concerts are performed each year.

Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm. Full band rehearsals are usually held at South Albany High School Band Room. Sectionals are held at South Albany High School in the band room (brass and percussion) and in the choir room (woodwinds). The rehearsal schedule extends from September to mid July. See Rehearsal Schedule for up-to-date information.

Participation in the band is open to adult musicians with previous instrumental music experience without formal audition. Musicians interested in joining the band should contact directors:
